THE STORY OF TAVERNA
It was April 1967 when Gioacchino Salvi, originally from Amatrice, decided to open a small trattoria in the shadow of the Pyramid of Cestius.
Back then, there were only two doors and a few classic Roman dishes. But in just a few years, the doors became four, the tables doubled, and the fame of the Taverna began to spread across the capital — with people from every corner of Rome dining side by side with celebrities, politicians, and footballers.


We’ll never get tired of striving for quality, courtesy, and professionalism — we firmly believe these are the three essential ingredients to being true restaurateurs!


52 years, 3 generations, and 3 renovations later, we’re still driven by our love for genuine, authentic flavors. We carefully select local producers and guaranteed raw ingredients, convinced that traditional Roman dishes deserve to be reimagined with modern pairings and innovative cooking techniques — always enhanced by wines from the finest Italian vineyards.
